Washington State Trip

On our first night in Washington, we enjoyed a relaxing dinner and evening at the Paradise Inn, located in Mt Rainier National Park. The next morning we hiked the Paradise and Skyline trails at Mt Rainier. The trails contained a vast expanse of pristine old-growth forests, subalpine flower meadows, snow covered trails, and we came across a few marmots, and what I believe was a red fox. We then traveled to the Olympic National Forest where we spent the evening in our cabin at the Sol Dol Hot Springs Resort. After settling in, we noticed a deer and her fawn just outside our cabin. The next few day we drove North along the Pacific Coastline and then East to Bremerton where we rode the ferry from Bremerton to Seattle on Seattle’s Kitsap Ferry. Over the next few days, we caught up on some rest and then headed out to explore Seattle. We ate some wonderful seafood meals at restaurants along the waterfront, smelled the fresh flowers and fish at Pike Place Market, rode the elevator up the Space Needle, and walked and relaxed on the grass at the Olympic Sculpture Park.

If you’ve never been to Seattle, I encourage you to visit. Prior to this trip, my last journey to Seattle was in July of 2005. I can’t express in words, the great things about Seattle. I’ve always found the transportation very accessible, there are plenty of bicycle paths, pedestrian crosswalks, and the city and its residents are more green conscious than I’ve seen in any city I’ve traveled to.

I snapped several hundred pictures on our trip. It will be a few days before I’m able to post more than what you see below. Please be patient. Thanks!

Olympic Sculpture Park

The Olympic Sculpture Park has transformed a nine-acre industrial site into open and vibrant green space for art. This new waterfront park gives Seattle residents and visitors the opportunity to experience a variety of sculpture in an outdoor setting, while enjoying the incredible views and beauty of the Olympic Mountains and Puget Sound. Admission is free.
